This project is a mixed use development involving the refurbishment and extension of three adjoined Victorian industrial buildings in the centre of Soho. Planning approval has been granted for the addition of two additional floors to the corner building, together with a redesigned roof structure and a new double height reception space. The scheme will provide enhanced frontage to the shops at street level and a series of open plan office spaces to the upper floors.
In order to maximise the potential office space on each floor, the focus is to create a single circulation core, from which the layouts will stem. A new entrance on the side elevation will increase the retail street frontage.
The industrial heritage of the building is being sympathetically taken into account through the use of exposed brick, a bespoke metal stair and feature panelling, with considered detailing designed to evoke the building’s strong links with Soho’s costume industry.
