The project involved developing a single-storey extension for a Victorian terraced flat in North London, prioritising flexible design to maximise natural daylight and enhance garden interaction. The aim was to revert the divided terrace into a single-family home, featuring a self-contained guest room and an entertaining space.
AMA's design integrates mirrored surfaces to reflect garden views, minimising the visual impact of the extension while maximising natural light. The interiors showcase soft pastel colours, creating balanced spaces that blend functionality and aesthetics.

Emphasising sustainability, the design enhances energy efficiency through the use of skylights in the kitchen and living areas, reducing reliance on artificial lighting and promoting a healthier indoor environment. The mirrored cladding on the extension reflects outdoor beauty and harmonies the structure with its surroundings, fostering a strong connection with nature.
Sustainable materials, including bamboo and recycled wood, focus on longevity and resource efficiency. The colour palette of whites, pastel pinks, and light timber complements large sliding doors, creating a tranquil atmosphere.

Adaptive design features, such as lowered floor levels for increased ceiling heights, enhance indoor comfort and outdoor usability. Thoughtful landscaping connects with the neighbourhood, providing privacy while fostering community integration.
The design’s simplicity underscores a commitment to sustainability, ensuring all elements align with eco-friendly principles while maintaining high spatial quality and atmosphere.
